La Ventana (2022)
Instalación sitio específico. Madera, fieltro asfáltico y apertura original recuperada mediante la remoción del muro de cartón-yeso de la galería. 5 x 14 x 6 m.
La Ventana fue una intervención sitio específico en la Galería Gabriela Mistral en Santiago, donde se reactivó una ventana del muro norte que permanecía oculta detrás de un tabique falso. La apertura original se conectó con el ventanal que da a la calle a través de un túnel continuo de madera y fieltro.
Esta estructura permitía que la mirada desde la calle atravesara el edificio hasta un jardín trasero, transformando la función de la galería en la de un umbral. Como consecuencia, el espacio interior quedó restringido físicamente, ocupado casi en su totalidad por el volumen del túnel. Al posibilitar la transparencia visual mientras se negaba el acceso físico, la construcción estructuró una tensión entre visión y tránsito, suspendiendo el uso convencional del espacio de exhibición.

"Las ventanas delimitan la permeabilidad entre el interior y el exterior, entre lo privado y lo público, entre la arquitectura y la ciudad, permiten que este límite determinante de propiedad se pueda cruzar con facilidad mirando a través desde cualquier lado. Esta vez no. La relación íntima entre ventana, visión y percepción es trastocada. Mediadora entre espacios, la ventana es un sitio de comunicación; y como palabra, ha sido metafóricamente abusada para otros medios visuales como la pintura, la televisión o las interfaces de computadora. Mirar más de cerca estas metáforas revela que la ventana aparentemente familiar puede que en realidad no sea transparente, sino que oculte o disloque lo que hay al otro lado. En este caso, solo podremos mirar las cosas que la artista nos permite a través de la ventana."

The Window (2022)
Site-specific installation. Lumber, asphaltic roofing felt, and retrieved original opening through the removal of the gallery's plasterboard wall. 5 x 14 x 6 m.
The Window was a site-specific intervention at Galería Gabriela Mistral in Santiago, where a window on the north wall—hidden behind a false plasterboard partition—was reactivated. The original opening was connected to the street-facing window through a continuous timber and asphalt tunnel.
This structure allowed viewpoints from the street to look straight through the building into a garden at the back, shifting the gallery's function into a threshold. Consequently, the interior became physically restricted, occupied almost entirely by the volume of the tunnel. By enabling visual transparency while denying physical access, the construction structuralized a tension between sight and transit, suspending the conventional use of the exhibition space.

"Windows delimit the permeability between interior and exterior, between private and public, between architecture and the city, allowing that determining limit of ownership to be crossed easily from both sides. Not this time. The intimate relationship between the window, sight and perception is disrupted. Mediator between spaces, the window is a site of communication; and as a word it has been metaphorically abused by other visual media such as painting, television or computer interfaces. Examining these metaphors reveals that the apparently familiar window might actually not be transparent but rather hide or refract what is on the other side. In this case one can only see the things that the artist permits us to see through this window."
